Tourist Guide PDF Print E-mail

WHO CAN APPLY?
  • The applicant must be an individual and has satisfied all the following conditions:
    • Professional Qualification - Has attended the training course(s) and passed the Competency Tests conducted by the Commissioner of Tourism or any body with written authorisation from the Commissioner of Tourism to conduct training courses/competency tests for tourist guides.
    • Age - Has attained the age of eighteen (18) at the time the application is made.
    • Health - Physically and mentally fit and free from any infectious disease.
    • Conduct - No criminal record and has the competency to be a Tourist Guide.

WHEN CAN YOU APPLY?
  • Not later than three (3) months after completion of the Tourist Guide Basic Course.

APPLICATION FORM
  • Application shall be made by submitting two (2) copies of Form 1 (Regulation 3).
  • The completed form shall be submitted directly to the relevant Regional Licensing Offices.

DURATION OF LICENSE
  • One (1) year from the date of issue

THE APPLICATION FORM ATTACHMENTS
  • Photograph
    • One (1) most recent passport-sized colour photographs
  • Copy of Identity Card
    • one (1) copy of the applicant's identity card
  • Receipt of membership of the Tourist Guides Association
    • one (1) copy of the membership receipt of the relevant Tourist Guides Association
  • Health Certificate
    • One (1) copies of a detailed health certificate from any Government hospitals/licensed medical practitioners

ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS FOR APPLICATION OF TOURIST GUIDE LICENSE
  • Tourist Guide Basic Course Certificate
    • One (1) copy of the letter of notification from this Ministry stating that the applicant has attended and passed the Tourist Guide Basic Course
    • One (1) copy of the Tourist Guide Basic Course certificate
  • Malaysian Skill Certificate
    • One (1) copy of the Malaysian Skill Certificate
  • Academic Qualification Certificates
    • One (1) copy of certified academic certificates (for instance: degrees, diplomas, STPM, SPM or equivalents)
  • Mesra Malaysia Certificate
    • One (1) copy of the Mesra Malaysia Certificate (compulsory)
  • Letter of Offer of Work
    • One (1) copy of offer letter from Tour Operating Company (if any)

PROCESSING FEE
  • A processing fee of RM10.00 shall be submitted together with the application.

LICENSING FEE
  • A licensing fee of RM50.00 is imposed.

METHODS OF PAYMENT
  • All payments shall be made in the form of bank draft/money order/cashier's order in the name of the Commissioner of Tourism, Ministry of Tourism, Malaysia . The name of the company and the Ministry's file reference number (if any) shall be clearly written on the back of the bank draft/money order/cashier's order.

  • Licensing Division, Ministry of Tourism, Malaysia , Kuala Lumpur - Applications from the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur , Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Malacca
  • Northern Region Licensing Office - Applications from Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Perak
  • Eastern Region Licensing Office - Applications from Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang
  • Southern Region Licensing Office - Applications from Johor
  • Sabah Regional Licensing Office - Applications from Sabah and the Federal Territory of Labuan
  • Sarawak Regional Licensing Office - Applications from Sarawak

ATTENTION
  • Applications that do not comply with the conditions will not be entertained.
  • The Ministry of Tourism, Malaysia will not be responsible for any expenditure and correspondence.
  • Firm action will be taken against applicants who submit any false statement.
