FUNCTION - To provide legal advice on specific legal matters under the authority of the Ministry/agencies
- To advise on legal implications relating to the Federal Constitution, State Constitutions, Parliamentary Acts, Enactments/Ordinances and Subsidiary Legislations
- To vet agreements, contracts, treaties or Memorandums of Understanding and legal documents extended by the Ministry/agencies
- To examine proposed drafts of new laws or amendments to existing laws and subsidiary legislations
- To attend to civil cases involving the Ministry/agencies, when required
- To attend meetings at the Department/Ministry/national and/or international levels on matters stated above
- To refer directly to the Headquarters, International and Advisory Division for advice and opinions as well as permission/comments from the Attorney-General in any legal-related matters
CLIENT CHARTER - To examine and provide legal advice to the Ministry and its departments, agencies and divisions within two (2) weeks
- To review and examine existing major or subsidiary legislation within four (4) weeks from receipt of the first draft
- To examine contract/agreement documents belonging to departments/divisions and agencies under the Ministry within two (2) weeks from receipt of complete documents
- To review and provide direction on investigation papers under Acts related to the Tourism Ministry within two (2) weeks
- To represent the Government of Malaysia and the Ministry in civil litigation matters on the date, time and place as directed by the Attorney-General
