KELAYAKAN AKADEMIK - Memiliki Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)
- tahap minima 6 subjek lulus dalam satu peperiksaan
- lulus Bahasa Melayu
- Calon-calon yang mempunyai Sijil Malaysian Certificate of Education (MCE) sejak tahun 1978 perlu mempunyai sekurang-kurangnya 5 tahun pengalaman dalam bidang Industri Pelancongan.
- Sijil, Diploma dan Ijazah yang diperolehi perlu mendapat kelulusan dan pengiktirafan daripada Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia.
TEMPOH KURSUS - Tempoh kursus dalam tempoh 4 hingga 6 bulan.
- tempoh minimum untuk Kursus Pemandu Pelancong (Asas) adalah 4 bulan dan perlu menghabiskan masa sebanyak 500 jam (contact hour) sebelum dibenarkan menduduki peperiksaan.
- Pecahan masa kursus adalah seperti berikut:
- kuliah/ceramah : 260 jam (minimum) - praktikal Koc : 80 jam (minimum) - tugasan NOSS : 160 jam
BAYARAN - Bayaran yang dikenakan oleh Institut-institut yang diiktiraf oleh Kementerian adalah RM3000.00 hingga RM5000.00 bagi satu kursus - bayaran ini bergantung kepada pengalaman calon dan bilangan pensyarah bagi bahasa asing.
- Bagi calon-calon yang gagal dalam peperiksaan boleh mengulang dalam tempoh dua tahun (mulai dari tarikh keputusan dikeluarkan) -bayaran yang dikenakan adalah RM180.00 untuk satu bahasa.
- Calon-calon yang berminat untuk membuat penambahan bahasa dalam lesen Pemanduan Pelancong diwajibkan mengikuti peperiksaan dan bayaran yang dikenakan ialah RM90.00 untuk satu bahasa.
PENDAFTARAN - Calon-calon yang berminat untuk memasuki kursus ini perlu berdaftar dengan Institut Latihan Pelancongan (ILP) yang telah diiktiraf oleh Kementerian.
- Pendaftaran calon dengan Kementerian akan diuruskan oleh ILP dengan mengemukakan salinan kad pengenalan, sijil SPM dan sijil-sijil lain yang berkaitan yang telah disahkan kepada Bahagian Pelesenan, Kementerian Pelancongan Malaysia.
PEPERIKSAAN - Peperiksaan Kursus Pemandu Pelancong (Asas) diadakan sebanyak tiga (3) kali setahun -Bulan April, Ogos dan Disember.
- Bagi calon-calon yang mengulang perlu menduduki semua peperiksaan termasuk oral, slide, koc dan ujian bertulis dalam satu peperiksaan.
- ILP dan calon perlu mendapatkan sijil pengesahan daripada Majlis Latihan Vokasional Malaysia (MLVK) yang membuktikan calon trampil sebelum menduduki Peperiksaan Pemandu Pelancong (Asas) yang dilaksanakan oleh Kementerian Pelancongan Malaysia.
- Calon-calon yang berminat untuk membuat penambahan bahasa dalam lesen pemanduan pelancong perlu menduduki peperiksaan praktikal iaitu oral, slide dan koc.
- Peperiksaan Pemandu Pelancong (Asas) ini terbahagi kepada dua (2) bahagian iaitu Peperiksaan Bertulis dan Peperiksaan Praktikal iaitu:
- Peperiksaan Praktikal : 80 % - Peperiksaan Bertulis : 20% - Peperiksaan Praktikal terdiri daripada oral, slide dan koc. Manakala Peperiksaan Bertulis terbahagi kepada dua (2) kertas iaitu Kertas 1 dan Kertas 2 (esei).
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION - Possess Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)
- A minimum of 6 passes in one examination
- A pass in Bahasa Melayu
- Candidates with Malaysian Certificate of Education (MCE) from the year 1978 onwards should have at least 5 years’ experience in the tourism industry.
- Certificates, diplomas and degrees obtained should be approved and recognised by the Ministry of Education of Malaysia.
DURATION OF COURSE - The duration of the course is 4 to 6 months.
- The minimum duration for the Tourist Guide Course (Basic) is 4 months and candidates are required to have a total of 500 contact hours before they are allowed to sit for the examination.
- The breakdown of the course schedule is as follows:
- lectures: 260 hours (minimum)
- practical/coaching: 80 hours (minimum)
- NOSS assignments: 160 hours
FEES - The fee charged by institutes approved by the Ministry is between RM3,000.00 and RM5,000.00 for a course - this fee depends on the candidate’s experience and the number of foreign language lecturers.
- Candidates who fail in their examinations may repeat the course within two years (effective from the date the result was issued) - the fee charged is RM180 per language.
- Candidates who are interested to include another language in their Tourist Guide Licence are required to sit for an examination and the fee charged is RM90 per language.
REGISTRATION - Candidates who are interested in the course are required to register with the Tourism Training Institutions that are recognised by the Ministry.
- Registration of candidates with the Ministry will be handled by the Training Institutions through the submission of endorsed copies of the identity card, SPM certificate and other relevant certificates to the Licensing Division of the Tourism Ministry.
EXAMINATIONS - The Tourist Guide Course (Basic) examination is held three (3) times a year - April, August and December.
- Repeat candidates have to re-sit for all papers including oral, slide, coach and written test in one examination.
- The Tourism Training Institutions and the candidates have to obtain Letters of Confirmation from the Malaysian Vocational Training Council (MVTC) before they can take the Tourist Guide Examination (Basic) conducted by the Tourism Ministry.
- Candidates who are interested to include another language in their Tourist Guide Licence are required to take the practical examination, i.e. oral, slide and coaching tests.
- The Tourist Guide Examination (Basic) is divided into two (2) parts, i.e. Written Examination and Practical Examination:
- Practical Examination: 80%
- Written Examination: 20%
- The Practical Examination comprises oral, slide and coaching tests while the Written Examination is divided into two (2) papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2 (Essay).
